Whole30 challenge with Crossfit High Five
29 days ago I began an epic journey of clean eating inspired by my coaches at Crossfit High Five. This food challenge is called the whole30. Those of you who know me well understand that I have a bit of an exercise addiction - teaching 4 spin classes per week, attending xfit 3-5 x per week and trying to do an epic bike ride every other weekend. One would think that with all of the working out that I do that I would have no extra fluff. But again, those who know me well realize too that I have a thing for cupcakes, cowboy bark, ice cream (OK the list goes on and on). Well, I have been doing my research and realized it is not about ins vs outs but rather what you consume. In short, when following the whole30 program you consume no processed foods, sugars, legumes, grains, dairy or alcohol. That's right - no processed foods and you would not believe how almost every item in the grocery store besides fresh produce and meats have added sugar in them. Read more about this amazing program the whole30 here. As my program concludes tomorrow, I will change the way I eat and think about food for the rest of my life. Thanks Crossfit High Five for the inspiration and turning me into a gourmet chef!
Tupac summarizes my experience the best:
"We gotta make a change... It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes. Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live and let's change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do what we gotta do, to survive."
